Why don't you tell us how long this movie will be playing... what's next... do you have a schedule of upcoming movies? We wish we could. Due to the nature of the small movie theatre business, we seldom know what's next. We usually find out what movie we successfully bid on, Monday, or Tuesday before the Friday we will be playing it. We update the web site, and phone recording as soon as we know. Due to the deadlines of the newspapers, we sometimes can't place the information there.
Weren't you once part of the Homewood Theatre? We never were, but Ken and Irene Dickinson did run both shows. After it was sold, it sadly fell into disrepair, and the city purchased it for demolition.
Why don't you offer free refills? We prefer to give our customers the most for their money. The googolplexs do offer refills, but how often do you go back for one? We charge $2.00 for our large drink. The googolplexs charge more than twice that. So you are basically paying for the refills for the few people that want seven gallons of pop. I know I don't drink that much.
How do I know if I won a pass? When they are drawn each month, the names and city will be posted by the guest book. We're sorry that we are unable to contact the winners.
How do you pick the winners? It's a very guarded secret, that involves a bushel of corn, and several nutria. Actually, we use a pair of dice.
Do you offer gift certificates? Yes we do. You may purchase passes for admission to the movie, also certificates redeemable at the candy counter.
When are your show times? Our shows are at eight o'clock Monday to Saturday, and five o'clock on Sundays. The box office opens one half hour before showtime.
How much are tickets? $6.00 for all showings.
How long will this movie be here? It depends on several factors, most of all if anyone is showing up to see it. Also, if we have another movie booked ahead of time, we may need to drop our current movie. All movies will play for a one week minimum starting on Friday night of one week, until Thursday night of the next week.
What time does the Eight O'clock show start? Even though we groan when this questions is asked, (Eight O' Clock, whadda think?) we understand why this is asked. Unlike the "Big Guys" we don't show any trailers (Previews) of upcoming movies. We feel you are paying to see a movie, not the latest music video, or pop commercial.
Do you have seats? Yes we have seats. Again this is one that on the surface sounds odd. You don't have to stand. Unlike the googolplexs that, in most cases auditoriums hold 100 people, or less, ours holds 425.

When was the theatre built? Ken and Irene Dickinson using new construction built the Town Theatre in 1946. We were one of the first businesses in the Downtown Highland area. Ken and Irene retired in 1978, when we purchased the show. We have tried to uphold the fine films that have been presented in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.
What's the deal with the intermission, and free cake and coffee? This was started years ago by Ken and Irene, and continues to this day. We feel it gives people a chance to stretch their legs, and discuss the movie. It also gives you a chance to speak with us, instead of a teenager who doesn't have a clue where the owners are, let alone the answer to your question. As our clientele tends to be an older demographic, they appreciate this quite a bit. Of course as an added benefit, everyone enjoys a small treat.

Where do you get your cake? We have a tree full of little tiny elves in the back yard. Really, they are from Almira's Pastry Shop, part of the Strack & Vantil grocery chain.
